حَدَّثَنَا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ، نَا أَبُو مُوسَى الْأَنْصَارِيُّ، نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي الْبِلَادِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ صُبَيْحٍ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، قَالَ:

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ وَعِنْدَهَا رَجُلٌ مَكْفُوفٌ، تُقَطِّعُ لَهُ الْأُتْرُجَّ وَتُطْعِمُهُ إِيَّاهُ بِالْعَسَلِ، فَقُلْتُ: مَنْ هَذَا يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ؟ قَالَتْ: هَذَا ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ، أَقْبَلَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَعِنْدَهُ عُتْبَةُ وَشَيْبَةُ، فَأَقْبَلَ عَلَيْهِمَا، فَنَزَلَتْ: عَبَسَ وَتَوَلَّى أَنْ جَاءَهُ الأَعْمَى قَالَتِ: ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ

✧ I entered upon 'A'ishah and with her was a blind man; she was cutting citron for him and feeding it to him with honey. I said: Who is this, O Mother of the Believers? She said: This is Ibn Umm Maktum. He came to the Messenger of God ﷺ while 'Utbah and Shaybah were with him, and he turned to them, so it was revealed: 'He frowned and turned away because the blind man came to him.' She said: Ibn Umm Maktum.
