حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ بْنِ عُمَرَ - وَرَّاقُ الْحُمَيْدِيِّ، نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، مِنْ وَلَدِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ عُثْمَانَ بِنْتُ سَعِيدٍ، وَهِيَ جَدَّتِي، عَنْ أَبِيهَا سَعِيدِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ قَالَ:

خَرَجْتُ تَاجِرًا إِلَى الشَّامِ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَلَمَّا كُنْتُ بِأَدْنَى الشَّامِ، لَقِيَنِي رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ، فَقَالَ: هَلْ عِنْدَكُمْ رَجُلٌ تَنَبَّأَ ؟، قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: هَلْ تَعْرِفُ صُورَتَهُ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهَا ؟ قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ. فَأَدْخَلَنِي بَيْتًا فِيهِ صُوَرٌ، فَلَمْ أَرَ صُورَةَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَبَيْنَا أَنَا كَذَلِكَ إِذْ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ عَلَيْنَا، فَقَالَ: فِيمَ أَنْتُمْ ؟، فَأَخْبَرْنَاهُ، فَذَهَبَ بِنَا إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ، فَسَاعَةَ مَا دَخَلْتُ نَظَرْتُ إِلَى صُورَةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، وَإِذَا رَجُلٌ آخِذٌ بِعَقِبِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، قُلْتُ مَنْ هَذَا الرَّجُلُ الْقَابِضُ عَلَى عَقِبِهِ ؟ قَالَ: " إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ نَبِيٌّ إِلَّا كَانَ بَعْدَهُ نَبِيٌّ إِلَّا هَذَا، فَإِنَّهُ لَا نَبِيَّ بَعْدَهُ، وَهَذَا الْخَلِيفَةُ بَعْدَهُ، وَإِذَا صِفَةُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ

✧ I went out as a merchant to al-Sham in the Jahiliyyah. When I was near al-Sham, a man from the People of the Book met me and said: “Do you have a man who has claimed prophethood?” I said: “Yes.” He said: “Do you recognize his image if you see it?” I said: “Yes.” He took me into a house containing images, but I did not see the image of the Prophet ﷺ. While I was thus, a man from among them entered upon us and said: “What are you doing?” We informed him, so he took us to his house. The moment I entered, I looked at the image of the Prophet ﷺ, and there was a man holding the heel of the Prophet ﷺ. I said: “Who is this man holding his heel?” He said: “There was no prophet except that a prophet came after him, except this one, for there is no prophet after him, and this is the caliph after him.” And it was the description of Abu Bakr.
