✧ Three things I heard from Allah's Messenger ﷺ about Banu Tamim, after which I shall never dislike Banu Tamim: 'A'ishah vowed to free a freedman from the descendants of Isma'il, so captives from Banu al-'Anbar were brought. Allah's Messenger ﷺ said to her: 'If you wish to free from the descendants of Isma'il, then free from these.' Thus Allah's Messenger ﷺ made them from the descendants of Isma'il. Then some camels from Sa'd's zakat camels were brought, and when their beauty amazed him, he said: 'This is the charity of my people.' Thus Allah's Messenger ﷺ called them his people. And he said: 'They are the fiercest of people in fighting during the great battles.'

machine translationDāwūd b. Abī Hind narrates it, and there is disagreement about him. Maslamah b. ʿAlqamah narrated it from Dāwūd b. Abī Hind, from al-Shaʿbī, from Abū Hurayrah. And ʿAbd al-Wārith b. ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated it from his father, from his grandfather, from Dāwūd, who said: "I was told from Abū Hurayrah." It was asked: which of the two is more correct? He said: The hadith of Maslamah b. ʿAlqamah is sound (ṣaḥīḥ), and the statement of ʿUmar b. Shabbah is not to be rejected.
