حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بَشِيرٍ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ قَالَ: نَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ حَبِيبٍ السَّرَّاجُ قَالَ: نَا حَيَّانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ أَبُو زُهَيْرٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ. عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:

اشْتَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ تَمْرًا، فَأُتِيَ بِصَاعٍ مِنْ عَجْوَةٍ، فَلَمَّا جَاءُوا بِهِ أَنْكَرَهُ، وَقَالَ: " مِنْ أَيْنَ لَكُمْ هَذَا ؟ " قَالُوا: بَعَثْنَا بِصَاعَيْنِ، فَأَتَيْنَا بِصَاعٍ قَالَ: " رُدُّوهُ، رُدُّوهُ، لَا حَاجَةَ لَنَا بِهِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ craved dates, so a saa‘ of ‘ajwah dates was brought. When they brought it, he found it objectionable and said: “Where did you get this?” They said: “We sent two saa‘s and received one saa‘.” He said: “Return it, return it; we have no need of it.”
