حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ نُوحٍ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَالِدِ بْنِ خِدَاشٍ، ثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ وَاقِدٍ الْقَيْسِيُّ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ عُمَارَةَ الْأَزْدِيِّ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ:
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لِجِبْرِيلَ: " أَيُّ الْبِقَاعِ خَيْرٌ ؟ قَالَ: لَا أَدْرِي، قَالَ: " فَسَلْ عَنْ ذَلِكَ رَبَّكَ " قَالَ: فَبَكَى جِبْرِيلُ ﷺ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، وَلَنَا أَنْ نَسْأَلَهُ ؟ هُوَ الَّذِي يُخْبِرُنَا بِمَا شَاءَ، فَعَرَجَ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ، ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: خَيْرُ الْبِقَاعِ الْمَسَاجِدُ، بُيُوتُ اللهِ فِي الْأَرْضِ قَالَ: " فَأَيُّ الْبِقَاعِ شَرٌّ ؟ " فَعَرَجَ إِلَى السَّمَاءِ، ثُمَّ أَتَاهُ، فَقَالَ: شَرُّ الْبِقَاعِ الْأَسْوَاقُ ".

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Jibril, “Which places are best?” He said, “I do not know.” He said, “Then ask your Lord about that.” Jibril ﷺ wept, then said, “O Muhammad, are we allowed to ask Him? It is He who informs us of what He wills.” Then he ascended to the heaven, then came back to him and said, “The best places are the mosques, the houses of Allah on earth.” He said, “And which places are worst?” He ascended to the heaven, then came to him and said, “The worst places are the markets.””
