حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ، ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ مُوسَى الطَّلْحِيُّ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ الْمُعْتَمِرِ، عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ أَبِي الضُّحَى، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ قَالَ: قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ:

" أَهْدَى لَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ رِجْلَ شَاةٍ، فَقَعَدْتُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي ظُلْمَةِ اللَّيْلِ نُقَطِّعُهَا قَالَ مَسْرُوقٌ: فَقُلْتُ: أَلَا أَسْرَجْتُمْ ؟ قَالَتْ: لَوْ كَانَ عِنْدَنَا سِرَاجٌ لَأْتَدَمْنَا بِهِ.

✧ Abu Bakr gave us a leg of a sheep as a gift. I sat with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the darkness of the night cutting it up. Masruq said: I said: 'Why did you not light a lamp?' She said: 'If we had a lamp, we would have used it as a condiment (dipped bread in its oil).'
