حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الذِّمَارِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا يَحْيَى بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ سُورِينَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، قَالَ:
صَلَّيْتُ الصُّبْحَ بِمَكَّةَ إِلَى جَنْبِ شَيْخٍ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ قَالَ: مَا صَلَّيْتُ خَلْفَ أَحَدٍ بَعْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَشْبَهَ صَلَاةً بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَتَى وَالْإِمَامُ يَوْمَئِذٍ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، قُلْتُ: مَنْ أَنْتَ رَحِمَكَ اللهُ ؟ قَالَ: أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ.

✧ I prayed the morning prayer in Makkah beside an old man. When he finished his prayer, he said: “After the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I have not prayed behind anyone whose prayer more closely resembled the prayer of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ than this young man.” The imam that day was Umar b. Abd al-Aziz. I said, “Who are you, may Allah have mercy on you?” He said, “Anas b. Malik.”
