machine translationHammām narrated it from Shaqīq, meaning Abū al-Layth, from ʿĀṣim b. Kulayb, from his father, from the Prophet ﷺ as a mursal report, and this is the preserved (maḥfūẓ) version.
in المعجم الأوسط, p. 5917 - Mizzī
machine translationIf the narration of Ibn Qāniʿ is sound, meaning where he says "ʿĀṣim b. Shantam", then it is likely that the hadith is connected (muttaṣil). But if the narration of Abū Dāwūd is the correct one, meaning where he says "ʿĀṣim b. Kulayb", then the hadith is mursal.
in المعجم الأوسط, p. 5917 - Abū Bakr Aḥmad b. al-Ḥusayn al-Bayhaqī
machine translationThis hadith is counted among the unique narrations (afrād) of Sharīk. Only Hammām corroborated him, and as a mursal report. Thus it was stated by al-Bukhārī and other early memorizers (ḥuffāẓ), and that is the preserved (maḥfūẓ) version.
