✧ I came to the Prophet of Allah ﷺ and said: O Prophet of Allah, I have composed poetry in which I praise Allah and extol you. He said: As for what you praised Allah in, bring it; and as for what you extolled me, leave it. So I began to recite to him, and a tall man entered. He said: Stop. When he left, he said: Bring it. So I began to recite to him, and it was not long before he returned. He said to me: Stop. When he left, he said to me: Bring it. I said: Who is this, O Prophet of Allah, that when he enters you say: Stop, and when he leaves you say: Bring it? He said: This is ʿUmar, and he is not part of falsehood in anything.
