حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ قَالَ: نَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمَوْصِلِيُّ قَالَ: ثَنَا أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْمُؤَدِّبُ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئٍ، قَالَتْ:

خَطَبَنِي رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقُلْتُ: مَا بِي رَغْبَةٌ عَنْكَ، وَلَكِنِّي لَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَتَزَوَّجَ وَبَنِيَّ صِغَارٌ، فَقَالَ: لَكِ غَيْرُ ذَلِكَ ؟ فَقُلْتُ: لَا. فَقَالَ: خَيْرُ نِسَاءٍ رَكِبْنَ الْإِبِلَ نِسَاءُ قُرَيْشٍ، أَحْنَاهُ عَلَى طِفْلٍ صَغِيرٍ، وَأَرْعَاهُ عَلَى بَعْلٍ فِي ذَاتِ يَدٍ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ proposed to me, and I said: I have no desire to turn away from you, but I do not like to marry while my children are still young. He said: Do you have any other reason? I said: No. He said: The best women who ever rode camels are the women of Quraysh—the most compassionate toward a small child and the most careful of a husband's property.
