✧ A woman entered the Fire because of a cat which she tied up: she neither gave it water nor fed it, nor let it loose to eat from the insects of the earth until it died in its tether. And a prostitute entered Paradise: she passed by a dog at a well, wanting water but unable to reach it, so she took off her leather sock – or her boot – and tied it to her veil, then drew water for it and gave it to drink until she had quenched its thirst.
