حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خُلَيْدٍ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو تَوْبَةَ الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ قَالَ: نَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ سَلَّامٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا سَلَّامٍ، يَقُولُ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو أَسْمَاءَ الرَّحَبِيُّ. أَنَّ ثَوْبَانَ، مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ - ﷺ قَالَ:
كُنْتُ قَائِمًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَ حَبْرٌ مِنْ أَحْبَارِ الْيَهُودِ، فَقَالَ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ، فَدَفَعْتُهُ دَفْعَةً كَادَ يَسْقُطُ مِنْهَا، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: أَوَلَا تَقُولُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ؟ فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ: إِنَّمَا نَدْعُوهُ بِاسْمِهِ الَّذِي سَمَّاهُ بِهِ أَهْلُهُ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِنَّ اسْمِي مُحَمَّدٌ الَّذِي سَمَّانِي بِهِ أَهْلِي، فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ: جِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " يَنْفَعُكَ شَيْءٌ إِنْ حَدَّثْتُكَ ؟ " قَالَ: أَسْمَعُ بِأُذُنَيَّ، فَنَكَتَ بِعُودٍ كَانَ مَعَهُ، فَقَالَ: " سَلْ ". فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ: أَيْنَ النَّاسُ يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ الْأَرْضُ غَيْرَ الْأَرْضِ وَالسَّمَاوَاتُ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " هُمْ فِي الظُّلْمَةِ دُونَ الْجِسْرِ ". قَالَ: فَمَنْ أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ إِجَازَةً ؟ قَالَ: " فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ "، فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ: فَمَا تَحِيَّتُهُمْ حِينَ يَدْخُلُونَ الْجَنَّةَ ؟ قَالَ: " زِيَادَةُ كَبِدِ الْحُوتِ ". قَالَ: فَمَا غَدَاؤُهُمْ عَلَى إِثْرِهَا ؟ قَالَ: " يُنْحَرُ لَهُمْ نُونُ الْجَنَّةِ الَّذِي يَأْكُلُ مِنْ أَطْرَافِهَا ". قَالَ: فَمَا شَرَابُهُمْ عَلَيْهِ ؟ قَالَ: " مِنْ عَيْنٍ تُسَمَّى سَلْسَبِيلًا ". قَالَ: صَدَقْتَ. قَالَ: وَجِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ شَيْءٍ لَا يَعْلَمُهُ أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ إِلَّا نَبِيٌّ، أَوْ رَجُلٌ، أَوْ رَجُلَانِ. قَالَ: " يَنْفَعُكَ إِنْ حَدَّثْتُكَ ؟ " قَالَ: أَسْمَعُ بِأُذُنَيَّ. قَالَ: جِئْتُ أَسْأَلُكَ عَنِ الْوَلَدِ. فَقَالَ: " مَاءُ الرَّجُلِ أَبْيَضُ، وَمَاءُ الْمَرْأَةِ أَصْفَرُ، فَإِذَا اجْتَمَعَا فَعَلَا مَنِيُّ الرَّجُلِ مَنِيَّ الْمَرْأَةِ، أَذْكَرَا بِإِذْنِ اللهِ، وَإِذَا عَلَا مَنِيُّ الْمَرْأَةِ مَنِيَّ الرَّجُلِ، آنَثَا بِإِذْنِ اللهِ ". فَقَالَ الْيَهُودِيُّ: لَقَدْ صَدَقْتَ، وَإِنَّكَ نَبِيٌّ، ثُمَّ انْصَرَفَ، فَذَهَبَ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " لَقَدْ سَأَلَنِي عَمَّا سَأَلَنِي عَنْهُ، وَمَا لِي عِلْمٌ بِشَيْءٍ مِنْهُ، حَتَّى أَتَانِيَ اللهُ بِهِ

✧ I was standing by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when a rabbi from the Jewish rabbis came and said: Peace be upon you, O Muhammad. I pushed him a shove by which he nearly fell, and said to him: Will you not say, 'O Messenger of Allah'? The Jew said: We only call him by the name his family gave him. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: My name is Muhammad, the name my family gave me. The Jew said: I have come to ask you. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: "Will it benefit you if I tell you?" He said: I hear with my two ears. He made a mark with a stick he had with him and said: "Ask." The Jew said: Where will the people be on the day when the earth is changed to other than the earth and the heavens? The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "They will be in the darkness before the bridge." He said: Who will be the first of the people to cross? He said: "The poor among the emigrants." The Jew said: What will their greeting be when they enter Paradise? He said: "A portion of the liver of the whale." He said: What will their lunch be after that? He said: "For them will be slaughtered the nun of Paradise that eats from its edges." He said: What will their drink be with it? He said: "From a spring called Salsabil." He said: You have spoken the truth. He said: I have come to ask you about something that no one on earth knows except a prophet, or a man, or two men. He said: "Will it benefit you if I tell you?" He said: I hear with my two ears. He said: I have come to ask you about the child. He said: "The fluid of the man is white, and the fluid of the woman is yellow. When they combine, and the man's semen prevails over the woman's, they will have a male by Allah's permission. If the woman's semen prevails over the man's, they will have a female by Allah's permission." The Jew said: You have spoken the truth, and you are a prophet. Then he left and went away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "He asked me about what he asked me, and I had no knowledge of any of it until Allah brought it to me."
