حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْعَبَّاسِ الضَّبِّيُّ قَالَ: نَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ قَالَ: نَا مَيْمُونُ بْنُ نَجِيحٍ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ قَالَ: نَا الْحَسَنُ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ:
أَتَى رَجُلٌ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أَشْتَهِي الْجِهَادَ، وَإِنِّي لَا أَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهِ ؟ قَالَ: هَلْ بَقِيَ أَحَدُ وَالِدَيْكَ ؟ قَالَ: أُمِّي، قَالَ: " فَأَبْلِ اللهَ عُذْرًا فِي بِرِّهَا، فَإِذَا فَعَلْتَ ذَلِكَ فَأَنْتَ حَاجٌّ وَمُعْتَمِرٌ وَمُجَاهِدٌ، إِذَا رَضِيَتْ أُمُّكَ، فَاتَّقِ اللهَ وَبَرَّهَا

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'I desire to go on jihad, but I am unable to.' He said: 'Are either of your parents still alive?' He said: 'My mother.' He said: 'Then give God an excuse in your devotion to her. If you do that, you are a pilgrim, a performer of ʿumrah, and a mujahid, if your mother is pleased. So fear God and be devoted to her.'
