حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ خُلَيْدٍ قَالَ: نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ. عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ

أَنَّ رَجُلًا، جَاءَ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، سَعِّرْ لَنَا. فَقَالَ: بَلْ أَدْعُو اللهَ، ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، سَعِّرْ لَنَا. فَقَالَ: " بَلِ اللهُ يَرْفَعُ وَيَخْفِضُ، وَإِنِّي لَأَرْجُو أَنْ أَلْقَى اللهَ وَلَيْسَتْ لِأَحَدٍ عِنْدِي مَظْلَمَةٌ

Translation

✧ A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of Allah, fix prices for us.” He said, “Rather I will supplicate to Allah.” Then another man came to him and said, “O Messenger of Allah, fix prices for us.” He said, “Rather Allah raises and lowers. I hope to meet Allah while no one has a complaint against me.”
