✧ Take your shields, take your shields. They said, “O Messenger of Allah, against an enemy that has come?” He said, “No, but against the Fire. Say: Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is most great. For they will come on the Day of Resurrection as those that go before and those that lag behind, and they are the enduring good deeds.”

  • Abū Ḥatim al-Rāzī

machine translationWe used to regard this as gharīb (a report with a single narrator), which Abū ʿUmar al-Ḥawḍī had narrated to us, until Aḥmad b. Yūnus narrated to us from Fuḍayl, meaning Ibn ʿIyāḍ, from Ibn ʿAjlān, from a man from the people of Alexandria, from the Prophet ﷺ. So I knew that it had been corrupted for ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz b. Muslim, and that his flaw had been exposed. The ḥadīth of Fuḍayl is more fitting.

  • Dāraquṭnī

machine translationThe statement of Abū Khālid al-Aḥmar is the most sound (aṣaḥḥ) of them.
