✧ We were men in Madinah who bought loads in the market of Madinah. We named ourselves, and the people called us al-samāsirah (brokers). The Messenger of Allah ﷺ called us by something better than what we called ourselves, and said: 'O assembly of merchants, indeed buying and selling is attended by idle talk and oaths, so mix it with something of charity.'
