✧ ʿAlī b. al-Mubārak al-Ṣanʿānī

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ قَالَ: نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أَبِي أُوَيْسٍ قَالَ: نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أُمَّ ذَرَّةَ، أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهَا

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ لَهَا: اجْلِسِي حَتَّى يَأْتِيَنِي جِبْرِيلُ فَتُسَلِّمِينَ عَلَيْهِ، وَيَدْعُوَ لَكَ بِالْخَيْرِ " فَجَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ فَقَامَ بِالْبَابِ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " مَا شَأْنُ جِبْرِيلَ، رَجَعَ وَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ ؟ " فَلَقِيَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ نَزْلَةً أُخْرَى، فَقَالَ: " يَا جِبْرِيلُ، جَلَسَتْ عَائِشَةُ لِتُسَلِّمَ عَلَيْكَ وَتَدْعُوَ لَهَا بِالْخَيْرِ، فَرَجَعْتَ عَنْ بَابِنَا، وَلَمْ تَدْخُلْ عَلَيْنَا ؟ فَقَالَ جِبْرِيلُ: إِنِّي جِئْتُ لِأَدْخُلَ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَوَجَدْتُ تِلْكَ الدُّوَيْبَّةَ الْخَبِيثَةَ فِي بَيْتِكُمْ، وَإِنَّا لَا نَدْخُلُ بَيْتًا فِيهِ تِلْكَ الدُّوَيْبَّةُ، أَوِ التَّمَاثِيلُ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said to her, "Sit until Gabriel comes to me, and you can greet him and he will supplicate for good for you." Gabriel came and stood at the door, then turned back and did not enter. The Messenger of God ﷺ said, "What is the matter with Gabriel? He turned back and did not enter." The Messenger of God ﷺ met him another time and said, "O Gabriel, ʿAʾishah sat to greet you and for you to supplicate for good for her, but you turned back from our door and did not enter upon us." Gabriel said, "I came to enter upon you, but I found that foul little creature in your house, and we do not enter a house in which there is that little creature or images."
