✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ often said to me: "O A'ishah, what did your verses do?" I said: "Which of my verses do you mean, for they are many, O Messenger of God?" He said: "About gratitude." I said: "Yes, by my father and mother. The poet said: 'Raise your weak one, lest his weakness one day brings you down, and then the consequences catch up with you, having grown. He will repay you or praise you, and indeed one who praises you for what you did is like one who repaid. The noble man, when you wish to connect with him, you will not find his rope worn out or weak in strands.'" He said: "Yes, O A'ishah. When God gathers the creation on the Day of Resurrection, He will say to a servant of His servants, to whom another servant of His servants had done a kindness: 'Did you thank him?' He will say: 'O Lord, I knew that was from You, so I thanked You for it.' He will say: 'You have not thanked Me, since you did not thank the one through whose hands I caused it to happen.'"
