✧ Al-‘Abbās said: “O Messenger of Allah, we recognize rancor in the faces of some people.” He said: “How do you recognize it?” He said: “A group sits in conversation; when I appear to them they stop because of my kinship to you. If they were sincere to Allah and His Messenger, they would not stop because of my kinship to you.” He said: “Do you know them?” He said: “Yes.” Al-‘Abbās placed his hand on the Prophet’s forearm ﷺ, then entered the mosque. Al-‘Abbās said to him: “This group is among them.” The Prophet ﷺ took al-‘Abbās’s hand and raised it, then said: “Whoever does not love this uncle of mine for Allah and for his kinship to me is not a believer.”
