✧ Information is not like seeing with one's own eyes; for Allah, exalted is He, told Musa b. Imran what his people had done after him, and he did not throw down the tablets, but when he saw it with his own eyes he threw down the tablets.

machine translationHushaym is a well-known man, and the imams wrote down from him. In himself he is not objectionable, except that he was ascribed to concealment (tadlīs). He has various compilations, good hadiths and unusual ones (gharāʾib). When he narrates from a trustworthy person, there is no harm in him. Sometimes he errs, and some of his hadiths are found to be rejected (munkar) when he practised concealment (tadlīs) in his narration from someone who is not trustworthy. Shuʿbah, al-Thawrī, Mālik, Ibn Mahdī, Ibn Abī ʿAdī and other imams narrated from him, and there is no harm in him or in his narrations.

machine translationIt is said that Hushaym did not hear this from Abū Bishr; rather he heard it from Abū ʿAwānah, from Abū Bishr, and so he concealed it (dallasahu).
