✧ We sighted the new moon of Dhū al-Ḥijjah as a large crescent. Those who minimized it said: “From two nights,” and those who maximized it said: “From three nights.” When we arrived in Makkah, I met Ibn ‘Abbās and asked him about the Day of Tarwiyah. He counted for me from that day. I said: “We sighted it as a large crescent.” He said: “The Prophet ﷺ extended it to its sighting.”
