حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الصَّفَّارُ الرَّمْلِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا هَارُونُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَبِي الزَّرْقَاءِ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ: نَا شِبْلُ بْنُ عَبَّادٍ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ:
قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ: مَا نَدِمْتُ عَلَى شَيْءٍ مَا نَدِمْتُ عَلَى أَنِّي لَمْ أَسْأَلْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الرِّيحِ. فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: بَلَى قَدْ سَأَلْتُهُ عَنْهَا، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، الرِّيحُ مِمَّ هِيَ ؟ قَالَ: " مِنْ رَوْحِ اللهِ يَبْعَثُهَا بِالرَّحْمَةِ، وَيَبْعَثُهَا بِالْعَذَابِ

✧ ‘Umar b. al-Khaṭṭāb said: “I have not regretted anything as much as I regret that I did not ask the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the wind.” Abū Hurayrah said: “Indeed I asked him about it. I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what is the wind from?’ He said: ‘It is from the spirit of Allah. He sends it with mercy, and He sends it with punishment.’”
