حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زَنْجُوَيْهِ الْقَطَّانُ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكَّارِ بْنِ الرَّيَّانِ قَالَ: نَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ قَاضِي حَلَبَ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عِيسَى الرَّقَاشِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ النَّهْدِيِّ. عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
لَمَّا خَلَقَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ الْعَقْلَ قَالَ لَهُ: قُمْ، فَقَامَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ: أَدْبِرْ، فَأَدْبَرَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُ: اقْعُدْ، فَقَعَدَ، فَقَالَ: وَعِزَّتِي، مَا خَلَقْتُ خَيْرًا مِنْكَ، وَلَا أَكْرَمَ مِنْكَ، وَلَا أَفْضَلَ مِنْكَ، وَلَا أَحْسَنَ، بِكَ آخُذُ، وَبِكَ أُعْطِي، وَبِكَ أَعْرِفُ، وَبِكَ أُعَاقِبُ، وَبِكَ الثَّوَابُ، وَعَلَيْكَ الْعِقَابُ

✧ When Allah, Mighty and Majestic, created the intellect, He said to it: 'Stand,' and it stood. Then He said to it: 'Turn back,' and it turned back. Then He said to it: 'Sit,' and it sat. He said: 'By My might, I have not created anything better than you, nor more noble than you, nor more excellent than you, nor more beautiful. Through you I take, and through you I give, and through you I make known, and through you I punish, and through you is reward, and upon you is punishment.'
