حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: نَا شَبَابٌ الْعُصْفُرِيُّ قَالَ: نَا نُوحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ. عَنْ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنْ نَزَلَ بِنَا أَمْرٌ لَيْسَ فِيهِ بَيَانٌ: أَمْرٌ وَلَا نَهْيٌ، فَمَا تَأْمُرُنَا ؟ قَالَ: تُشَاوِرُونَ الْفُقَهَاءَ وَالْعَابِدِينَ، وَلَا تُمْضُوا فِيهِ رَأْيَ خَاصَّةٍ

✧ I said: O Messenger of Allah, if a matter befalls us in which there is no clear statement, neither command nor prohibition, what do you order us? He said: Consult the jurists and the devout worshippers, and do not act solely on the opinion of a special few.
