حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي صَفْوَانَ الثَّقَفِيُّ قَالَ: نَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ قَالَ: نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ أَبِي الْحُسَامِ أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْمَدِينِيُّ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ وَمُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ. عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ الدِّيلِيِّ قَالَ:

رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ بِسُوقِ ذِي الْمَجَازِ، قَبْلَ أَنْ يُهَاجِرَ، وَهُوَ يَطُوفُ عَلَى النَّاسِ، فَيَقُولُ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّ اللهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا تُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا، وَخَلْفَهُ رَجُلٌ يَقُولُ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّ هَذَا يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تَتْرُكُوا دِينَ آبَائِكُمْ. فَقُلْتُ: مَنْ هَذَا ؟ فَقَالُوا: عَمُّهُ أَبُو لَهَبٍ

✧ I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the market of Dhu al-Majaz before he migrated, going around among the people saying: "O people, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, commands you to worship Him and not associate anything with Him." Behind him was a man saying: "O people, this one is telling you to abandon the religion of your forefathers." I asked: "Who is this?" They said: "His uncle, Abu Lahab."
