Translation
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade continuous fasting (wisal). A man among the Muslims said, "But you fast continuously." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Which of you is like me? I spend the night while my Lord feeds me and gives me drink." When they refused to stop continuous fasting, he fasted continuously with them for a day, then another day, then they saw the new moon. He said, "If it had been delayed, I would have increased you"—as a punishment for them when they refused to stop.
