حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ خَطَّابِ بْنِ صَالِحٍ مَوْلَى الْأَنْصَارِ. عَنْ أُمِّهِ سَلَّامَةَ بِنْتِ مَعْقِلٍ امْرَأَةٍ مِنْ قَيْسِ عَيْلَانَ، قَالَتْ:

قَدِمَ بِي عَمِّي الْمَدِينَةَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَبَاعَنِي مِنَ الْحُبَابِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو – أَخِي أَبِي الْيَسَرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، فَوَلَدْتُ لَهُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْحُبَابِ، ثُمَّ هَلَكَ، فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَتُهُ: الْآنَ وَاللهِ تُبَاعِينَ فِي دَيْنِهِ، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنِّي امْرَأَةٌ مِنْ قَيْسِ عَيْلَانَ، قَدِمَ بِي عَمِّي الْمَدِينَةَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ، فَبَاعَنِي مِنَ الْحُبَابِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، فَوَلَدْتُ لَهُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ الْحُبَابِ، فَمَاتَ، فَقَالَتِ امْرَأَتُهُ: الْآنَ تُبَاعِينَ فِي دَيْنِهِ. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " مَنْ وَلِيُّ الْحُبَابِ ؟ " فَقِيلَ: أَخُوهُ أَبُو الْيَسَرِ. فَبَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: أَعْتِقُوهَا، فَإِذَا سَمِعْتُمْ بِرَقِيقٍ قَدِمَ عَلَيَّ، فَأْتُونِي أُعَوِّضْكُمْ بِهَا. فَأَعْتَقُونِي. ثُمَّ قَدِمَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ رَقِيقٌ، فَعَوَّضَهُمْ مِنِّي غُلَامًا

✧ My uncle brought me to Madinah in the pre-Islamic era and sold me to al-Hubab b. ʿAmr, the brother of Abu al-Yasar b. ʿAmr. I bore him ʿAbd al-Rahman b. al-Hubab; then he died. His wife said, “Now, by God, you will be sold for his debt.” So I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of God, I am a woman from Qays ʿAylan. My uncle brought me to Madinah in the pre-Islamic era and sold me to al-Hubab b. ʿAmr. I bore him ʿAbd al-Rahman b. al-Hubab, then he died. His wife said, ‘Now you will be sold for his debt.’” The Messenger of God ﷺ said, “Who is the guardian of al-Hubab?” It was said, “His brother Abu al-Yasar.” So the Messenger of God ﷺ sent for him and said, “Set her free. When you hear of slaves arriving to me, come to me and I will compensate you with one.” So they set me free. Then slaves arrived to the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he compensated them with a boy instead of me.
