أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ حَامِدٍ الْبَزَّازُ، سَمِعْتُ الْحُسَيْنَ بْنَ مَنْصُورٍ،
يَقُولُ: كُنْتُ مَعَ أَبِي أَحْمَدَ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ: {هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ} [الذاريات: 24]، فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ وَاللهِ، عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَثَّامٍ دَعَانِي يَوْمًا إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ، فَجَعَلَ يَصُبُّ الْمَاءَ بِنَفْسِهِ عَلَى يَدَيَّ، وَيَخْدُمُنِي فِي جَلَالَتِهِ، وَهَيْبَتِهَ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا الْحَسَنِ أَنْتَ بِنَفْسِكَ، فَقَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ شِبْلٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ: {هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ} [الذاريات: 24]، قَالَ: " كَانَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَتَوَلَّى خِدْمَتَهُمْ بِنَفْسِهِ "

He said: I was with Abū Aḥmad Muḥammad b. ʿAbd al-Wahhāb, and I asked him about this verse: {هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ} [al-Dhāriyāt: 24]. He said: Yes, by God! ʿAlī b. ʿAthām invited me one day to his house, and he began pouring water over my hands himself and serving me, despite his eminence and his awe-inspiring presence. I said: O Abū al-Ḥasan, you yourself? He said: Abū Usāmah narrated to me, from Shibl, from Ibn Abī Najīḥ, from Mujāhid: {هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ ضَيْفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْمُكْرَمِينَ} [al-Dhāriyāt: 24].
