أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ بْنُ بِشْرَانَ، قَالَ: أنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الصَّفَّارُ، قَالَ: نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ، قَالَ: نا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ: أنا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ،
قَالَ: كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، إِذْ قَالَ: " إِنَّ لِلَّهِ عِبَادًا لَيْسُوا بِأَنْبِيَاءَ، وَلَا شُهَدَاءَ، يَغْبِطُهُمُ الْأَنْبِيَاءُ، وَالشُّهَدَاءُ بِقُرْبِهِمْ مِنَ اللهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ "، وَقَامَ فِي نَاحِيَةِ الْقَوْمِ أَعْرَابِيٌّ فَجَثَا عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ وَرَمَى بِيَدَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: حَدِّثْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَنْهُمْ مَنْ هُمْ؟، قَالَ: فَرَأَيْتُ فِي وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ الْبِشْرَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: " هُمْ عِبَادٌ مِنْ عِبَادِ اللهِ، مِنْ بُلْدَانٍ شَتَّى، وَقَبَائِلَ شَتَّى، مِنْ شعوبِ الْقَبَائِلِ لَمْ يَكُنْ بَيْنَهُمْ أَرْحَامٌ يَتَوَاصَلُونَ بِهَا، وَلَا دُنْيَا يَتَبَاذَلُونَ بِهَا، يَتَحَابُّونَ بِرُوحِ اللهِ، يَجْعَلُ اللهُ وُجُوهَهُمْ نُورًا، وَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمْ مَنَابِرَ مِنْ لُؤْلُؤٍ، يَفْزَعُ النَّاسُ وَلَا يَفْزَعُونَ، وَيَخَافُ النَّاسُ وَلَا يَخَافُونَ "

He said: I saw delight in the face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said: "They are servants from among the servants of Allah, from various lands and various tribes, from the branches of the tribes. There were no family ties between them by which they kept in touch, and no worldly wealth by which they gave to one another. They love one another through the spirit of Allah. Allah will make their faces light, and will make for them pulpits of pearl. The people will be terrified but they will not be terrified, and the people will fear but they will not fear."
