He said: This is what we memorized from al-Zuhrī, from Abū Idrīs al-Khawlānī, that he informed him, saying: I met Abū al-Dardāʾ and retained knowledge from him, and ʿUbādah b. al-Ṣāmit and I retained knowledge from him, and Shaddād b. Aws and I retained knowledge from him, but I missed Muʿādh b. Jabal, so so-and-so informed me from him. Sufyān said: Al-Zuhrī named him, but I forgot him: that Muʿādh b. Jabal would not sit in any gathering without saying: "God is a just judge, blessed is His name; the doubters have perished."

Notes
machine translationSomeone else narrated it from Abū Idrīs, from Yazīd b. ʿAmīrah, from Muʿādh. So it is possible that the first ḥadīth, about those who love one another, he also heard from Yazīd b. ʿAmīrah, from Muʿādh, and God knows best.
