أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، نا أَبُو نَصْرِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، نا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ حَمْدُونٌ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الطَّرَسُوسِيُّ، نا حَامِدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْبَلْخِيُّ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ سُفْيَانَ بْنَ عُيَيْنَةَ،
يَقُولُ: مَرَّ عُمَرُ بْنُ ذَرٍّ يَوْمًا بِرَجُلٍ يَقَعُ فِيهِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: " يَا هَذَا، لَا تُغْرِقْ فِي شَتْمِنَا وُدَعْ لِلصُّلْحِ مَوْضِعًا، فَإِنَّا لَا نَجِدُ مُكَافَأَةَ مَنْ عَصَى اللهَ فِينَا بِمِثْلِ أَنْ أُطِيعَ اللهَ فِيهِ "
