"Leadership is not complete for men except with four things: comprehensive knowledge, perfect scrupulousness (wara‘), complete forbearance, and good management. If these four are not present, then a laid table, an open hand, generous giving, and good companionship with people. If these four are not present, then striking with the sword, thrusting with the spear, courage of heart, and managing the armies. If none of these qualities is in him, then it is not fitting for him to seek leadership."
