أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَا: نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصَمُّ، نا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، نا أَيُّوبُ بْنُ سُوَيْدٍ، نا أَبُو زُرْعَةَ
قَالَ: خَرَجَ الضَّحَّاكُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ فَاسْتَسْقَى بِالنَّاسِ، وَلَمْ يُمْطَرُوا وَلَمْ يَرَوْا سَحَابًا قَالَ الضَّحَّاكُ: أَيْنَ يَزِيدُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ؟ فَقَالَ: هَذَا أَنَا. قَالَ: نَعَمْ فَاسْتَشْفِعْ لَنَا إِلَى اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ يَسْقِيَنَا فَقَامَ فَعَطَفَ بِرَأْسِهِ عَلَى مَنْكِبَيْهِ وَحَسَرَ عَنْ ذِرَاعَيْهِ فَقَالَ: اللهُمَّ إِنَّ " عِبَادَكَ هَؤُلَاءِ اسْتَشْفَعُوا بِي إِلَيْكَ فَمَا دَعَا إِلَّا ثَلَاثًا حَتَّى مُطِرُوا مَطَرًا كَادُوا يغرقونَ مِنْهُ ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّ هَذَا شَهَرَنِي فَأَرِحْنِي فَمَا لَبِثَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ إِلَّا جُمُعَةً حَتَّى مَاتَ "
