حَدَّثَنَا الْإِمَامُ أَبُو الطَّيِّبِ سَهْلُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ، إِمْلَاءً أَنَا أَبُو عَمْرٍو مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، نا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ الْهِلَالِيُّ، بِالْبَصْرَةِ نا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى مُعَاذٌ الْعَقَدِيُّ، نا يُوسُفُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ، أَنَا ثَابِتٌ الْبُنَانِيُّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ
قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لِأَصْحَابِهِ: " مَنِ الْمُؤْمِنُ؟ " قَالُوا: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. قَالَ: " الْمُؤْمِنُ الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ حَتَّى يَمْلَأَ اللهُ مَسَامِعَهُ مِمَّا يُحِبُّ، وَلَوْ أَنَّ عَبْدًا اتَّقَى اللهَ فِي جَوْفِ بَيْتٍ إِلَى سَبْعِينَ بَيْتًا عَلَى كُلِّ بَيْتٍ بَابٌ مِنَ الْحَدِيدِ لِأَلْبَسَهُ اللهُ رِدَاءَ عَمَلِهِ حَتَّى يَتَحَدَّثَ بِهَا النَّاسُ وَيَزِيدُونَ " قَالُوا: وَكَيْفَ يَزِيدُونَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " لِأَنَّ التَّقِيَّ لَوْ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَزِيدَ فِي بِرِّهِ لَزَادَ " ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " مَنِ الْكَافِرُ؟ " قَالُوا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ. قَالَ: " الَّذِي لَا يَمُوتُ حَتَّى يَمْلَأَ اللهُ مَسَامِعَهُ مِمَّا يَكْرَهُ، وَلَوْ أَنَّ فَاجِرًا فَجَرَ فِي جَوْفِ بَيْتٍ إِلَى سَبْعِينَ بَيْتًا عَلَى كُلِّ بَيْتٍ بَابٌ مِنْ حَدِيدٍ لِأَلْبَسَهُ اللهُ رِدَاءَ عَمَلِهِ حَتَّى يُحَدِّثَ بِهِ النَّاسُ وَيَزِيدُونَ " قَالُوا: كَيْفَ يَزِيدُونَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: " لِأَنَّ الْفَاجِرَ لَوْ يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَزِيدَ فِي فُجُورِهِ لَزَادَ " تَفَرَّدَ بِهِ يُوسُفُ بْنُ عَطِيَّةَ الصَّفَارُ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، وَرِوَايَتُهُ عَنْهُ أَكْثَرُهَا مَنَاكِيرُ لَا يُتَابَعُ عَلَيْهِ وَاللهُ تَعَالَى أَعْلَمُ

And if a servant were to fear Allah in the depths of a house, within seventy houses, each house having an iron door, Allah would clothe him in the cloak of his deed until the people speak of it, and they add to it." They said: How do they add to it, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "Because the God-fearing person, if he were able to increase his righteousness, would have increased it." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Who is the disbeliever?" They said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: "The one who does not die until Allah fills his ears with what he hates. And if a wicked person were to commit wickedness in the depths of a house, within seventy houses, each house having an iron door, Allah would clothe him in the cloak of his deed until the people speak of it, and they add to it." They said: How do they add to it, O Messenger of Allah? He said: "Because the wicked person, if he were able to increase his wickedness, would have increased it." Yūsuf b. ʿAṭiyyah al-Ṣaffār was alone in narrating it from Thābit, and most of his narrations from him are objectionable (manākīr); he is not corroborated in it. And Allah the Exalted knows best.
