That a man from Najrān asked him while he was with Nāfiʿ b. Jubayr, and said: "What do you think of the report that was mentioned to us about the man who owed two dinars, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was called to pray over him, but he refused to pray over him until Abū Qatādah took responsibility for the two dinars? Did you hear your father mention that?" I said: "No, but someone from my family whom I do not doubt narrated it to me." The Najrānī said: I heard ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ say: A man came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: "O Messenger of Allah, what will I have if I am killed in the cause of Allah?" He said: "Paradise." When the man turned away, he said: "Jibrīl has just asked me," and said: "Except for debt, for it will be taken from you."
