أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحُسَيْنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْمُقْرِئُ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْحَاقَ، نا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْمُحَوِّزِ، وَمُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، قَالَ: نا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ، نا بَشَّارُ بْنُ الْحَكَمِ الضَّبِّيُّ، نا ثَابِتٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ:
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَقِيَ أَبَا ذَرٍّ، فَقَالَ: " يَا أَبَا ذَرٍّ، أَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى خَصْلَتَيْنِ هُمَا أَخَفُّ عَلَى الظَّهْرِ، وَأَثْقَلُ فِي الْمِيزَانِ مِنْ غَيْرِهِمَا؟ " قَالَ: بَلَى يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَ: " عَلَيْكَ بِحُسْنِ الْخُلُقِ، وَطُولِ الصَّمْتِ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ، مَا عَمِلَ الْخَلَائِقُ بِمِثْلِهِمَا " وَقَالَ: " الْخَصْلَةُ الْوَاحِدَةُ الصَّالِحَةُ تَكُونُ فِي الرَّجُلِ، فَيُصْلِحُ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَهُ بِهَا عَمَلَهُ كُلَّهُ، وَطَهُورُ الرَّجُلِ وَصَلَاتُهُ يُكَفِّرُ اللهُ بِطَهُورِهِ ذُنُوبَهُ، وَيُبْقِي صَلَاتَهُ لَهُ نافِلَةً "

That the Messenger of God ﷺ met Abū Dharr and said: "O Abū Dharr, shall I not guide you to two qualities that are lighter on the back and heavier in the Scale than anything else?" He said: "Yes, O Messenger of God." He said: "Hold to good character and long silence. By the One in whose Hand is the soul of Muḥammad, the creatures have not done anything like these two." And he said: "A single good quality may be in a man, and God, Mighty and Majestic, sets right all his deeds because of it. And a man's purification and his prayer: God expiates his sins by his purification, and his prayer remains for him as a voluntary act."
