He said: A man praised another man in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said: "Woe to you, you have cut your brother's neck," several times. "If any of you must praise his brother, let him say: I consider so-and-so to be such, and Allah is his Reckoner, and I do not declare anyone pure before Allah; I consider him so, if he knows such and such."

machine translationMuslim narrated it in the Ṣaḥīḥ, from Yaḥyā b. Yaḥyā. And the two Shaykhs (al-Bukhārī and Muslim) transmitted it from the hadith of Shuʿbah, from Khālid. And in the narration of ʿAlī: "If he had heard it, he would never have succeeded after it." He said: "Let him say: I consider so-and-so to be such and such, if he knows that of him, and Allah knows him best, and I do not declare anyone pure before Allah."
