From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said: "Whoever takes a binding oath (yamīn ṣabr) in order to seize the property of a Muslim man will meet Allah while He is angry with him. And the confirmation of that is in the Book of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللهِ وَأَيْمَانِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا} [Āl ʿImrān: 77]" to the end of the verse. Then al-Ashʿath b. Qays entered and said: What is Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān telling you? They said: Such and such. He said: He spoke the truth; it was revealed about me. There was a dispute between me and a man over a piece of land, so we brought our dispute to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: "Do you have proof?" I said: No. He said: "Then his oath." I said: Then he will swear. He said: "Whoever takes a binding oath in order to seize the property of a Muslim man will meet Allah while He is angry with him." So Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللهِ وَأَيْمَانِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا} [Āl ʿImrān: 77] to the end of the verse.
