Chain of narrators

machine translationAbū ʿAbdillāh al-Ḥāfiẓ informed us, Abū al-ʿAbbās Muḥammad b. Yaʿqūb narrated to us, Aḥmad b. Shaybān al-Ramlī narrated to us, Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah narrated to us, from ʿAmr b. Dīnār,

Machine translation, not reviewed

He said: Ibn ʿAbbās said: "It was prescribed for them that twenty should not flee from two hundred." Then he said: {Now Allah has lightened it for you, and He knows that there is weakness in you. So if there are among you a hundred who are steadfast, they will overcome two hundred} So it was prescribed for them: "that a hundred should not flee from two hundred." Sufyān said: "Dust in the path of Allah and the smoke of Hell do not gather in the belly of a believer." "We have also narrated this saying through another route, raised (marfūʿ) to the Prophet ﷺ." And the hadith that we narrated from Ibn ʿAbbās was recorded by al-Bukhārī in the Ṣaḥīḥ, from the hadith of Ibn ʿUyaynah.
