That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "While a man was in an open desert, he heard thunder in a cloud, and he heard a voice in it saying: 'Water the garden of so-and-so,' naming him. Then that cloud came to a rocky tract of black stones (ḥarrah) and emptied what it held of water. Then it came to the end of a channel (sharj) and reached one channel, which took in all the water. The man walked along with the cloud until he came to a man standing in his garden, watering it. He said: 'O servant of Allah, what is your name?' He said: 'And why do you ask?' He said: 'I heard in the cloud whose water this is: Water the garden of so-and-so, using your name. What do you do with it when you harvest it?' He said: 'Since you say that, I divide it into three parts: I make one third for myself and my family, I return one third into it, and I make one third for the poor, the beggars, and the wayfarer.'"
