أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو سَعْدٍ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ الزَّاهِدُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ نَجْدَةَ الْقُرَشِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ الْحِمَّانِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ، عَنِ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُرَشِيِّ، عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ الْحَضْرَمِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي ذَرٍّ،
قَالَ: قَامَ بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْلَةَ ثَلَاثٍ وَعِشْرِينَ إِلَى نَحْوٍ مِنْ ثُلُثِ اللَّيْلِ، ثُمَّ قَامَ بِنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ لَيْلَةَ خَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ إِلَى نَحْوٍ مِنْ شَطْرِ اللَّيْلِ، فَقُلْنَا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَوْ نَفَّلْتَنَا بَقِيَّةَ لَيْلَتِنَا هَذِهِ، فَقَالَ: " إِنَّهُ مَنْ قَامَ مَعَ الْإِمَامِ حَتَّى يَنْصَرِفَ كُتِبَ لَهُ قِيَامُ لَيْلَتِهِ "، ثُمَّ لَمْ يَقُمْ بِنَا حَتَّى بَقِيَ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ ثَلَاثٌ فَشَدَّ الْمِئْزَرَ، وَجَمَعَ أَهْلَهُ، وَنِسَاءَهُ وَالنَّاسَ وَقَامَ بِنَا، حَتَّى خَشِينَا أَنْ يَفُوتَنَا الْفَلَاحُ، - قُلْنَا: وَمَا الْفَلَاحُ؟ قَالَ: السُّحُورُ - ثُمَّ لَمْ يَقُمْ بِنَا بَقِيَّةَ الشَّهْرِ قَالَ الْبَيْهَقِيُّ رَحِمَهُ اللهُ: " وَمَنْ أَرَادَ الِانْفِرَادَ بِهَا لِمَنْ كَانَ حَافِظًا لِلْقُرْآنِ احْتَجَّ بِمَا "

He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer on the night of the twenty-third until about a third of the night had passed. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in prayer on the night of the twenty-fifth until about half of the night had passed. We said: "O Messenger of Allah, if only you would lead us in voluntary prayer for the rest of this night of ours." He said: "Whoever stands in prayer with the imam until he finishes, the standing of his whole night is recorded for him." Then he did not lead us in prayer until three days of the month remained, when he tightened his waist-wrapper, gathered his family, his wives and the people, and led us in prayer until we feared that we would miss al-falāḥ. - We said: "What is al-falāḥ?" He said: "The pre-dawn meal (suḥūr)." - Then he did not lead us in prayer for the rest of the month. Al-Bayhaqī, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "And whoever wishes to pray it alone, if he is a memorizer of the Quran, argues on the basis of what follows."
