From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, who said: "Were it not that I would burden the believers, I would have commanded them to use the siwāk."
machine translationAl-Bayhaqī (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The hadith of Jaʿfar b. Rabīʿah was narrated by al-Bukhārī in the Ṣaḥīḥ, from Yaḥyā b. Bukayr, and it does not contain "with ablution". That phrase is in the hadith of Saʿīd b. Abī Hilāl, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Aʿraj, from Abū Hurayrah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Were it not that I would burden my nation, I would have commanded them to use the siwāk with ablution."
