That Abū ʿUbayd said to him: "Narrate to me a hadith you heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ more than once, or twice, or three times, saying: "When the believing servant performs ablution, rinses his mouth and snuffs water into his nose, the sins fall away from his mouth and nostrils. When he washes his face, the sins fall away from the edges of his eyes. When he washes his hands, the sins fall away from his fingernails. When he wipes his head, the sins fall away from the hair of his head. When he washes his feet, the sins fall away from the nails of his feet. If he stops at that, that is his share of his ablution. But if he stands and prays two rakʿahs, turning to Allah with his heart and his gaze, he comes out of his sins as the day his mother bore him."

machine translationAbū Umāmah also narrated it from ʿAmr b. ʿAbasah, from the Prophet ﷺ, and Muslim recorded it in the Ṣaḥīḥ through that route.
