سَمِعْتُ أَبَا نَصْرِ بْنَ قَتَادَةَ، يقول سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عَمْرِو بْنَ مَطَرٍ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا خَلِيفَةَ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا عُمَرَ الْحَوْضِيَّ يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ شُعْبَةَ بْنَ الْحَجَّاجِ
يَقُولُ: " بِاللَّيْلِ تَكْتُبُونَ وَبِالنَّهَارِ تَسْمَعُونَ فَمَتَى تَعْمَلُونَ؟ " وَأَمَّا الْحِكَايَةُ الَّتِي: أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نُصَيْرٍ الْخَلَدِيُّ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الْجُنَيْدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ السَّرِيَّ بْنَ الْمُغَلِّسِ، وَقَدْ ذُكِرَ لَهُ مِنَ الْحَدِيثِ، فَقَالَ: " لَيْسَ مِنْ زَادِ الْقَبْرِ "
