وَفِيمَا أَجَازَ لي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ وَكَتَبْتُهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَبَّاسِ الْأَصَمِّ، حدثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، حدثنا شُجَاعُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ أَبُو بَدْرٍ، أخبرنا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ بْنِ يَرِيمَ، وَأَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ،
قَالَ: " لَا يَأْتِي عليكم عَامٌ إِلَّا وَالَّذِي بَعْدَهُ شَرٌّ مِنْهُ " قَالُوا: فَإِنَّهُ يَأْتِي عَلَيْنَا الْعَامُ يَخْصَبُ، وَالْعَامُ لَا نخْصَبُ فِيهِ، قَالَ: " إِنِّي وَاللهِ لَا أَعْنِي خِصْبَكُمْ، وَلَا جَدْبَكُمْ، وَلَكِنَّ ذَهَابَ الْعِلْمِ أَوِ الْعُلَمَاءِ قَدْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ عُمَرُ فَأَرُونِي الْعَامَ مِثْلَهُ "
