I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Whoever travels a path seeking knowledge on it, Allah will make him travel a path to Paradise. And the angels lower their wings for the seeker of knowledge, pleased with what he does. And the creatures of the land seek forgiveness for him, even the fish in the sea." "And the superiority of the scholar over the worshipper is like the superiority of the moon on the night of the full moon over the stars." "And the scholars are the heirs of the Prophets." "And the Prophets did not leave behind a dinar or a dirham, but they bequeathed knowledge; so whoever takes it has taken an abundant share." And likewise it was narrated by ʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Ibn al-Mubārak, from al-Awzāʿī. And Bishr b. Bakr said, from al-Awzāʿī, from ʿAbd al-Salām b. Sulaym, from Yazīd b. Samurah, from Kathīr b. Qays, from Abū al-Dardāʾ, and this is more correct. Al-Bukhārī said it.
