Chain of narrators

machine translationAbū ʿAbdillāh al-Ḥāfiẓ informed us, Jaʿfar b. Muḥammad b. Nuṣayr narrated to us, Ibrāhīm b. Naṣr al-Manṣūrī narrated to us, Ibrāhīm b. Bashshār narrated to us,

Machine translation, not reviewed

He said: One night we spent the evening with Ibrāhīm b. Adham, and we had nothing with which to break our fast and no means of getting anything. He saw me worried and sad, and said: "O Ibrāhīm b. Bashshār, how much of blessing and ease has God granted the poor and the needy in this world and the next! On the Day of Resurrection they will not be asked about zakāh, nor about Hajj, nor about charity, nor about maintaining family ties, nor about consoling others. Only about these things is one questioned and reckoned. These poor are rich in this world and poor in the Hereafter; they are honoured in this world and humbled on the Day of Resurrection. Do not worry and do not grieve, for God's provision is guaranteed and will come to you. By God, we are the rich kings; we are the ones who hastened our ease in this world. We do not care in what state we spend the morning or the evening, so long as we obey God." Then he stood up to pray and I stood up to my prayer. We had waited only a short while when a man came with eight loaves and a great deal of dates. He placed them before us and said: Eat, may God have mercy on you. He said: Then he finished the prayer and said: "Eat, O worried one." Then a beggar came in and said: Feed us something. So he took three loaves with some dates and gave them to him, gave me three, and ate two loaves himself. And he said: "Sharing with others is among the character traits of the believers."
