أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ نُصَيْرٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا مُحَمَّدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيَّ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ،
يَقُولُ: " كَمَالُ الْمَعْرِفَةِ بِاللهِ التَّوَاضُعُ لَهُ " قَالَ: " وَكَمَالُ التَّوَاضُعِ الرِّضَا "
