أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ الْجَرَّاحِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَاسَوَيْهِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ السُّكَّرِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ زَمْعَةَ،
قَالَ: قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي رِزْمَةَ: قِيلَ لِعَبْدِ اللهِ: إِنَّ رَجُلًا قَالَ: لَوْ تَعَبَّدَ النَّاسُ لَأَتَاهُمُ اللهُ بِالرِّزْقِ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ: " لَا يُعْرَفُ هَذَا، إِنَّ اللهَ ابْتَلَى النَّاسَ بِالْمَعَاشِ "، فَقَالَ: {وَآخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِنْ فَضْلِ اللهِ} [المزمل: 20]: " وَقَدْ كَانَ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، قَوْمٌ لَهُمْ أَمْوَالٌ وَأَبُو أَيُّوبَ لَهُ حَائِطُ كَذَا، وَفُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ؛ وَآخَرُونَ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ كَثِيرُ شَيْءٍ، مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ وَالْأَنْصَارِ فَلَمْ يُضَيِّقْ عَلَيْهِمِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ، وَلَمْ يَأْمُرْهُمْ أَنْ يُمْسِكُوا قُوتَ لَيْلَةٍ، وَيَتَصَدَّقُوا بِالْبَقِيَّةِ، وَلَكِنْ يَأْمُرْهُمْ بِالتَّقْدِمَةِ، وَمَوْضِعِ الْفَضْلِ وَيُخْبِرُهُمْ بِهِ "

God has tested the people with earning a livelihood." Then he said: {وَآخَرُونَ يَضْرِبُونَ فِي الْأَرْضِ يَبْتَغُونَ مِنْ فَضْلِ اللهِ} [al-Muzzammil: 20]. "And in the time of the Messenger of God ﷺ there were people who had wealth, and Abū Ayyūb had such-and-such an orchard, and so-and-so and so-and-so; and others who did not have much of anything, from among the Muhājirūn and the Anṣār. The Prophet ﷺ did not restrict them, and he did not command them to keep the food of a night and give the rest in charity, but he would command them to send ahead good deeds and to put the surplus to its proper place, and he would inform them of it."
