حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، أَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ الْحَافِظُ، ثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ الْفَرَّاءُ، أَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ، أَنَا أَبُو حَيَّانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،
قَالَ: " كَانَ سُرَيْجٌ لَا يُشْرِعُ شُعَبًا إِلَى الطَّرِيقِ إِلَّا إِلَى دَارِهِ، وَلَا يَمُوتُ لِأَهْلِهِ سِنَّوْرَةٌ إِلَّا دَفَنَهَا فِي دَارِهِ اتِّقَاءَ أَذَى النَّاسِ "
